Health Department to Host a FREE, Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 17

​The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health will host a FREE, drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Green Run High School located at 1700 Dahlia Drive. For this clinic, Virginia Beach Department of Public Health nurses, Virginia Beach Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer nurses and City EMS personnel will administer seasonal flu vaccines free of charge to adults and children ages 3 years and older. Children (ages 3-8) should bring copy of their immunization record if available. There are 800 doses available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants in this event are asked to wear a face covering.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), influenza viruses typically circulate widely in the United States annually, from the late fadl through early spring. Although most persons who become infected with influenza viruses will recover without complications, influenza can cause serious illness and death, particularly among older adults, very young children, pregnant women and those with chronic medical conditions.
